On the down side, I am now in need of new glasses. I accidentaly knocked mine off where I set them and stepped on them after bathing in the lake *big grumble* Oh well, such is the way of things sometimes.
Now, back to breakfast.
Edit:
Summery of field camp as requested by Leo.
Started off on a two week stretch of camping in Utah. First stops were Gilson Gulch and Gentile Wash where we learned about para-sequences. (the sediments laid down when a shore goes out twords the sea then comes back in) We got to also measure rock section thicknesses and find a few fossilized leaves. Next stop was Battleship Rock and surrounding area. We counted how many visible para-sequences there were on Battleship Rock, but only ofter we climbed up to the midpoint on a nearby mesa. The next day we got to climb onto the nose of another mesa and sit on the top to see the one across the way and talk about channel fills in conjunction with para-sequences. We also got to visit Dinosaur National Monument and Arches, but nother for very long.
We then changed camp to Sheep Creek Utah and spent the second week of the two week stretch mapping the different units of that area. It was quite fun and I saw many lizards, a bull snake, and found a small antler shed on top of the Navajo Sandstone.
After a couple days back home we went back out to Thermopolis Wy to look at the stratigraphy of Wind River Canyon, and create a cross section of all the faults across the valley. That was rather fun since we got to play in the hot springs at Thermopolis and got a tour through the natural history museum at the dinosaur center there. We then went to Tin Cup Wyoming and were identifying various igneous rocks so we could map the area. Primitive camping there, had to dig our own latrines and such. We got rained out of Tin cup after two nights so we got to go back home and do alternate projects around Laramie. One of those included finding Labradorite in a road cut near by.
Next time we went out we went to Green Mountain to map landslides. The data we collected is being examined and most will likely be used for an accurate assessment of the area. The roads to Green Mountain opened up on June 15th. We got there on the 16th. There were still some roads that were impassible due to snow drifts, but the drifts made for great cooling off places as it was hot. From there we went to Seminoe Reservoir on the West side. We mapped the units from the Precambrian Basement rock all the way to where the modern sand dunes prevented us from seeing the underlying rocks. The mapping area included the famous Morrison Formation and the Sundance Formation. Two units renound for fossils in this area. The ridges of the Sundance Formation were loaded with clams, oysters and belmenites.
After a brief stop back at home, and a day in the computer lab rendering our landslide data into reports, we returned to Seminoe for our final project. This time we mapped the East side. Same units, different structures. Plus we had to take a boat across the lake to the other side. That meant a fun boat ride at 8am to begin mapping, and again at 5pm after we were done. Though I only got to take four rides, having only the first two days to map due to breaking my glasses. Oh well.
Camp was fun, and I learned a lot. I would recommend it to any geology student from any school. About half the class each year is of non UW students.

xD Sorry I'm pushing this so much, but the site is starting to lose its momentum and it is mainly because of lack of RPing and we need the word to get around about this place.
