What better drop spindle to spin copper wire with?

This sculpture was inspired by a trip to a hardware store while thinking about yarn. The two ideas meshed, and I got the parts for the spindle right then. The copper wire is a bit recycled from a section of old phone cable I ended up with years ago.

In case anyone is wondering, yes, the spindle is usable, but it would be a bit heavy to use on anything less durable than metal.

Entire sculpture is 11.5inches long, with the spindle being 6in in length


Materials used:
1- 6in partially threaded bolt
2- hex nuts
4- 2in wide round washers
found and re-used copper wire
